### How It’s Made

The base cloth is handwoven from staple-spun Eri silk yarns, known for their breathable structure, softly slubbed texture, and calm matte appearance.

During weaving, white silk-pile yarns are selectively introduced to form raised stripes directly within the fabric. This creates a soft, velvet-like effect without the use of adhesives, added backing, printing, or surface appliqué.

Because the pile is integrated into the woven construction, the fabric retains its lightness, flexibility, and natural drape.

### Sewing Notes

Cut all pattern pieces in the same direction to maintain a consistent appearance across the raised pile stripes.

Use fine, sharp pins or clips and a fresh needle suitable for lightweight silk. Avoid excessive handling or repeated unpicking, as this may disturb the woven surface.

Test pressing on a small swatch first. Press from the reverse side over a soft towel to prevent flattening the raised pile.

### Wash & Care

Dry cleaning is recommended for the best preservation of the pile, texture, and handwoven structure.

If hand washing is preferred, test a small swatch first. Wash briefly in cold water using a mild, silk-safe detergent. Do not soak, scrub, wring, twist, or tumble dry.

Gently roll the fabric in a clean towel to remove excess moisture, then line dry naturally in the shade.

Steam lightly from the reverse side. Do not press directly onto the pile, as heat and pressure may flatten or distort the raised stripes.
