Handwoven Sashiko-Inspired Kala Cotton & Kutch Wool Fabric, 52” Wide, 600 GSM
$15.88Excl. T.V.A.
Description
Sashiko Hearth is a deeply tactile handwoven textile blending 80% Kala cotton with 20% Kutchh wool for warmth, softness and exceptional comfort. Its rhythmic surface draws inspiration from traditional sashiko, interpreted directly through the weave rather than applied as embroidery.
Small raised bars of yarn travel across the warm greige surface, creating a quiet, dimensional pattern with the irregular beauty of handwork. The tonal palette allows the construction and texture to remain the focus: softly contrasting cream and greige yarns create depth without making the fabric visually overwhelming.
At approximately 600 GSM, this is an exceptionally heavyweight textile with a rich, enveloping presence. However, its weight should not be mistaken for rigidity. The fabric remains soft, pliable and beautifully flowing, settling into deep, rounded folds rather than standing stiffly or feeling board-like.
The Kala cotton gives the cloth comfort and suppleness, while the Kutchh wool introduces additional warmth. Its generous 52-inch width and substantial yet fluid character make it particularly suited to relaxed winter silhouettes and designs that celebrate the fabric’s woven surface.
Minute shifts in the raised yarns, weave and tonal balance are intrinsic to its handwoven construction and make every length subtly individual.
