Handwoven Wild Tussar Peace Silk Fabric by the Yard | 44” Wide | 280 GSM
$23.00Excl. T.V.A.
Description
This exceptional handwoven wild Tussar peace silk is crafted from foraged silk cocoons collected from forest habitats, making it one of the most ethical and rare silk textiles available.
Unlike conventional silk, the silkworms are allowed to complete their life cycle before the cocoons are gathered, preserving biodiversity while producing a fibre with remarkable natural character.
Naturally Undyed
The yarns used in this cloth are naturally textured and completely undyed, retaining the earthy ivory-to-sand tones unique to wild Tussar silk.
These subtle tonal variations and slubs are not flaws—they are signatures of genuine wild silk, giving every metre a one-of-a-kind, organic surface.
Handwoven Construction
Handwoven on traditional looms, this fabric has a substantial weight of 280 GSM, providing body, structure, and durability while retaining silk’s gentle warmth and breathability.
The weaving process is slow and labour-intensive due to the irregular wild-silk filaments, which require highly skilled artisans to guide the yarns into a stable and balanced cloth.
The result is a beautifully raw, architectural textile—soft yet sturdy, with a tactile surface that ages gracefully over time.
This fabric is designed for makers who value craft, sustainability, and material honesty.
