Undyed Wild Silk & Yak Wool Blend Fabric, 280 GSM, 44–45" Wide
$19.47Excl. T.V.A.
Description
One of the most distinctive fabrics we have produced, this is an exceptionally tactile handwoven blend of silk and wool.
The fabric is completely undyed, neither the silk nor the wool yarns have been coloured. Every shade visible within the cloth comes directly from the original tones of the fibres. Natural black, ivory, oatmeal, camel and earthy brown yarns come together to create a beautifully layered surface without any dyeing or printing.
The individual qualities of the silk and wool remain visible within the weave. Variations in yarn thickness, colour and texture create an organic, multidimensional pattern that feels raw, expressive and entirely unique.
At approximately 280 GSM, the fabric has substance without feeling stiff or bulky. Its handwoven construction gives it a wonderfully fluid, flowy drape, making it considerably more relaxed than a conventional structured tweed.
Small irregularities in the weave, yarn placement and texture are intentional characteristics of the handwoven process. Each length will be slightly different, giving every piece its own individual composition.

Although it has a substantial weight, it is not a dense or rigid tweed. It is best suited to silhouettes that embrace its fluid drape and organic texture rather than sharply tailored or heavily structured garments.
For garments or accessories requiring additional support, lining or gentle stabilisation may be useful.
CARE
Dry cleaning is recommended to protect the undyed silk and wool fibres and preserve the handwoven texture. Avoid machine washing or vigorous agitation, as this may cause shrinkage or alter the surface.
