ABOUT PURE LINEN

Linen is a natural bast fibre obtained from the flax plant. It is valued for its strength, breathability, moisture management, and ability to become softer with use.

Unlike perfectly uniform synthetic or highly processed fabrics, pure linen naturally displays slubs, fine knots, crease lines, and variations in yarn thickness. These characteristics contribute to its tactile surface and organic appearance.

Linen is also naturally prone to creasing. The creases soften the appearance of the cloth and form part of its relaxed character rather than indicating poor quality.

HOW THE FABRIC IS MADE

This fabric is constructed in a balanced plain weave using approximately 25s linen yarns in both the warp and weft directions.

In a plain weave, each weft yarn passes alternately over and under each warp yarn. This creates a stable, breathable structure with balanced strength and flexibility.

The 25s yarn count gives the fabric greater substance and a more pronounced linen texture than a finer 40s linen construction. Using a similar yarn count in both directions helps create an evenly balanced cloth with a softly structured drape.

This is a stable woven fabric without mechanical stretch. Patterns requiring elasticity should include suitable ease, shaping, and closures.

OPACITY AND LINING

The fabric is fully opaque under most normal lighting conditions.

A lining is not generally necessary for coverage, although one may be added to tailored trousers, jackets, skirts, or dresses for a smoother interior and improved structure.

Suitable lining options include lightweight cotton, voile, cupro, or viscose, depending on the garment and intended care method.

SEWING RECOMMENDATIONS
