    Description

This refined double-cloth seersucker is woven from organic cotton, reinterpreting a classic warm-weather textile through a lightweight layered construction.

At approximately 122 GSM, it is an airy fabric with more body than a conventional single-layer seersucker. Alternating puckered and flatter areas create natural lift away from the skin, encouraging airflow while reducing cling.

The double-cloth structure adds softness, dimension, and gentle stability without making the fabric feel heavy. Its surface is subtly sculpted rather than overly crinkled, giving it a modern, considered appearance suitable for elevated everyday clothing and light home textiles.

Available in six thoughtfully selected shades, including an RFD option for custom dyeing and printing.

    AVAILABLE COLOURS

    • Amber

    • Saffron

    • Soft Pink

    • Lilac

    • Moss Green

    • RFD / Ready for Dyeing

Amber is a warm golden-brown tone.

Saffron has a rich, spice-inspired yellow character.

Soft Pink offers a delicate, muted pastel.

Lilac is a gentle purple with a cool, understated quality.

Moss Green is an earthy, softened green.

RFD is supplied as a prepared base for further dyeing, printing, and textile treatment.

    WHAT IS DOUBLE-CLOTH SEERSUCKER?

Traditional seersucker is recognised by its alternating smooth and puckered areas. The raised texture allows portions of the fabric to sit away from the body, improving airflow and reducing direct contact with the skin.

This fabric combines that characteristic texture with a double-cloth construction.

Two lightweight layers are woven simultaneously and connected at selected intervals. This creates a fabric with greater depth and soft body while preserving lightness and breathability.

The result is more dimensional and substantial than a typical single-layer seersucker but remains suitable for warm-weather clothing.

    HOW THE TEXTURE IS CREATED

The seersucker effect is produced structurally through controlled changes in yarn tension and weave.

Differentially tensioned yarns relax at different rates, creating alternating puckered and flatter areas directly within the fabric.

    The texture is not:

    • Printed

    • Embossed

    • Created with elastane

    • Added through adhesive

    • Dependent on a topical crinkle coating

Because the puckering is woven into the construction, it forms an integral part of the fabric and should remain visible through normal washing and use. Heavy ironing may temporarily flatten the surface.

    ORGANIC COTTON NOTE

The fabric is described as organic cotton based on the supplied production information.

If a particular certification—such as GOTS, OCS, or another textile standard—is important for your project or labelling requirements, please confirm the exact certification documentation before ordering.

“Organic cotton” and “certified organic cotton” should only be used interchangeably when valid certification is available for the specific fabric batch.

    HANDFEEL AND DRAPE

    Handfeel: Cool, dry, and breathable

Surface: Gently puckered with softly raised texture

Body: Light with more substance than single-layer seersucker

    Drape: Airy yet composed

    Movement: Soft and responsive

Opacity: Enhanced by the double-cloth construction

Against the Skin: Comfortable with reduced cling

After Washing: Progressively softer and more relaxed

The layered weave gives the fabric a gentle cushioned quality without noticeable bulk. It holds relaxed silhouettes cleanly while remaining soft enough for gathers, loose sleeves, and flowing summer garments.

    COLOUR AND OPACITY

Opacity may vary among the available shades.

Amber, Saffron, and Moss Green will generally offer greater visual coverage.

Soft Pink, Lilac, and RFD may appear more translucent under strong backlighting or when used as a single layer.

A lightweight lining may be added for garments where complete coverage is required. We recommend checking a swatch against the skin under natural and artificial light before deciding whether to line the finished piece.

    ABOUT THE RFD OPTION

RFD stands for “Ready for Dyeing.”

This option is prepared as a base for further colour or surface treatment. It may be suitable for:

    • Natural dyeing

    • Fibre-reactive dyeing

    • Garment dyeing

    • Pigment dyeing

    • Screen printing

    • Block printing

    • Botanical contact printing

    • Fabric painting

    • Embroidery

RFD preparation does not guarantee identical results with every process. Additional scouring, mordanting, or preparation may be required depending on the chosen dye or printing system.

Always test the complete process on a swatch before treating the full yardage.

    IDEAL USES

    • Summer shirts

    • Blouses and lightweight tops

    • Relaxed button-down shirts

    • Lightweight overshirts

    • Dresses and sundresses

    • Skirts

    • Breezy tunics and kurtas

    • Kaftans and resortwear

    • Lounge sets

    • Pyjamas

    • Children’s summer clothing

    • Lightweight layering pieces

    • Pillowcases

    • Lightweight bedding

    • Napkins and napery

    • Table runners

    • Light curtains

    • Textured home accents

This fabric has no mechanical stretch and is not suitable for patterns that depend on elasticity.

    SEWING RECOMMENDATIONS

    • Pre-wash the fabric before cutting

    • Test shrinkage using a measured swatch

    • Allow the fabric to rest flat before positioning pattern pieces

    • Avoid stretching or flattening the puckered areas

    • Use sharp scissors or a rotary cutter

    • Cut in a single layer when precision is important

    • Use a new fine universal or Microtex needle

    • Test a size 70/10 or 80/12 needle

    • Use fine, high-quality thread

    • Select a short-to-medium stitch length after testing

    • Stay-stitch necklines, armholes, and bias-cut edges

    • Use French seams, binding, or a fine overlocked finish

    • Choose a narrow turned hem for lightweight garments

    • Use lightweight interfacing only where necessary

    • Avoid heavy fusibles that may flatten the texture

    • Press gently from the reverse side

    • Use a pressing cloth and minimal pressure

Because this is a double cloth, inspect a cut edge before sewing to understand how the layers connect. Handle carefully if any areas appear loosely joined.

    WASH AND CARE

    • Pre-washing is strongly recommended

    • Hand wash in cold water or machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle

    • Wash separately for the first few washes

    • Wash similar colours together

    • Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent

    • Do not bleach

    • Avoid harsh fabric softeners

    • Do not soak for prolonged periods

    • Avoid wringing or twisting

    • Line dry in the shade

    • Reshape gently while damp

    • Avoid tumble drying to minimise shrinkage

    • Steam lightly if required

    • Iron from the reverse side on a warm setting

    • Avoid heavy pressing directly on the puckered surface

The fabric is expected to become softer and more relaxed with washing while retaining its structurally woven texture.

    CARING FOR THE TEXTURE

    To preserve the seersucker effect:

    • Avoid pressing the fabric completely flat

    • Use steam rather than heavy iron pressure

    • Place a soft towel beneath the cloth while pressing

    • Press only seams and construction areas when possible

    • Do not apply heavy fusible interfacing across large sections

    • Allow the fabric to air dry naturally

If the puckering appears temporarily flattened after pressing, gentle steaming and washing may help the texture relax again.

    PLEASE NOTE

    • The fabric contains no elastane and has no mechanical stretch

    • The seersucker texture is created through the weave

    • Minor variations in puckering and surface texture may occur

    • Double-cloth connections may be subtly visible in some areas

    • Opacity varies according to colour, lighting, and layering

    • RFD may require additional preparation for certain dye methods

    • Natural cotton may shrink or relax after washing

    • Pre-washing and testing a measured swatch are strongly recommended

    • Separate production batches may vary slightly in colour, texture, and width

    • Purchase sufficient fabric for the complete project in one order when close matching is important

    • Colour may appear different depending on lighting and screen settings

We recommend ordering a swatch before purchasing larger quantities when exact colour, opacity, texture, weight, or dyeing suitability is important.
