      Description

This quietly sophisticated embroidered cotton–linen fabric combines the organic character of a natural greige base with restrained geometric detailing.

At approximately 220 GSM, it is a confident midweight fabric—substantial and stable while remaining breathable and comfortable. The cotton–linen base has a warm, natural appearance with subtle slubs and tonal movement, while the raised embroidery introduces rhythm, dimension, and visual depth without overpowering the cloth.

The overall effect is architectural yet understated: a modern, craft-forward textile suitable for thoughtfully constructed apparel, accessories, and refined interiors.

      HOW THE FABRIC IS MADE

The fabric begins with a woven cotton–linen base in a natural greige shade.

Cotton contributes softness, stability, and everyday comfort, while linen adds breathability, strength, and a dry, tactile character. The base cloth is woven with enough stability to support embroidery while preserving the natural qualities of both fibres.

A repeating geometric motif is then created through machine embroidery. Contrasting threads sit slightly above the surface, producing a dimensional pattern that interacts beautifully with light.

The additional stitching may give the embroidered areas slightly more firmness than the surrounding base, while the overall fabric retains a comfortable, garment-appropriate drape.

This fabric contains no mechanical stretch and is not suitable for patterns that rely on elasticity.

      PATTERN PLACEMENT

The repeating embroidered motif should be considered carefully when positioning pattern pieces.

      • Purchase additional fabric when precise motif matching is required

      • Keep the embroidery direction consistent across all pieces

      • Match motifs at prominent seams where possible

      • Consider centring motifs on front panels, sleeves, pockets, and yokes

      • Avoid placing dense embroidery directly inside bulky seam junctions

      • Cut in a single layer when exact placement is important

      • Check the embroidery coverage near both selvedges before calculating usable width

The usable embroidered width may be slightly narrower than the complete fabric width if the motif does not extend fully to the edges.

      SEWING RECOMMENDATIONS

      • Test all sewing methods on an offcut

      • Pre-treat a measured swatch before cutting

      • Use sharp scissors or a rotary cutter

      • Use a universal needle suitable for midweight woven fabrics

      • Test a size 80/12 or 90/14 needle

      • Use strong, good-quality thread

      • Select a medium stitch length after testing

      • Stay-stitch curved and bias-cut edges

      • Secure embroidery threads where cutting passes through a motif

      • Finish raw edges with overlocking, binding, or enclosed seams

      • Grade seam allowances where embroidered sections create bulk

      • Use a walking foot if the layers shift

      • Use lightweight or medium-weight interfacing only where necessary

      • Press from the reverse side with a pressing cloth

      • Place a soft towel beneath the fabric while pressing to protect the raised embroidery

A lining may be added to garments for a cleaner interior, additional structure, and protection of the reverse embroidery threads.

      WASH AND CARE

Dry cleaning is recommended for the best preservation of the embroidered surface, base fabric, and dimensional stability.

      If washing at home:

      • Test a measured swatch first

      • Hand wash gently in cold water

      • Wash separately

      • Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent

      • Do not bleach

      • Do not soak for prolonged periods

      • Do not scrub the embroidered surface

      • Avoid wringing, twisting, or heavy agitation

      • Gently press out excess water

      • Reshape while damp

      • Line dry or dry flat in the shade

      • Do not tumble dry

      • Iron from the reverse side

      • Use a pressing cloth and low-to-moderate heat

      • Place a towel beneath the embroidery while pressing

      • Avoid applying heavy pressure directly to the raised pattern

Professional cleaning is preferable for tailored, lined, or intricately constructed garments and interior pieces.

      This fabric may naturally display:

      • Cotton and linen slubs

      • Slight variations in motif placement or thread tension

      • Small thread ends on the reverse

      • Gentle changes in width or surface texture

These characteristics reflect the natural fibres and embroidered construction and should not automatically be considered defects.

      PLEASE NOTE

      • Exact cotton and linen percentages should be confirmed if required for garment labelling

      • The embroidered areas may feel firmer than the base cloth

      • The fabric has no mechanical stretch

      • Some relaxation or shrinkage may occur after washing

      • Pre-treating and testing a measured swatch are strongly recommended
