How It Is Made

This fabric is woven from 100% Kala Cotton yarn on a traditional handloom. It is constructed in a balanced 2/2 herringbone, or broken-twill, weave that creates its characteristic alternating diagonal pattern.

The herringbone is woven directly into the structure of the cloth—it is not printed, embossed, or applied as a surface treatment. In a 2/2 twill construction, each yarn passes over two and under two yarns. The direction of the twill is periodically reversed to form the distinctive herringbone pattern.

About Kala Cotton

Kala Cotton is an indigenous, rain-fed cotton traditionally cultivated in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India. Naturally adapted to the region’s dry and demanding climate, it is known for its resilience and ability to grow with relatively limited irrigation.

The fibre has a distinctively dry, earthy hand compared with highly processed commercial cotton. When handwoven, it produces cloth with visible yarn character, natural texture, and excellent breathability.
