Description
Garnet Nocturne is an exceptionally rare, entirely handwoven mulberry silk distinguished by its genuinely reversible construction. One face is predominantly near-black, illuminated by garnet-red threads; turn it over, and the relationship reverses, revealing a rich garnet and burgundy surface shadowed by black.
The contrasting colours are woven into the textile itself, allowing either face to become the principal side of a garment. This creates wonderful possibilities for contrasting collars, cuffs, lapels, facings and reversible silhouettes without introducing a separate fabric.
Although substantial at approximately 285 GSM, this silk is remarkably soft, supple and flowing. It has a beautifully weighted fall and settles into generous, fluid folds rather than feeling firm, rigid or board-like. The pronounced woven surface gives it depth and tactile richness, while the mulberry silk lends a quiet lustre that appears especially beautiful as the fabric moves.
Minute variations in the yarn and weave are intrinsic to its completely handwoven construction, making every length subtly individual. This is a truly special textile for considered garments in which both the fabric and its construction are allowed to take centre stage.
