Description
This smooth hemp sateen fabric combines the natural strength and breathability of hemp with the polished surface of a sateen weave. Available in two naturally dyed shades—Mustard and Terracotta—each colour has a warm, nuanced appearance with gentle tonal variation characteristic of natural dyes.
At approximately 180 GSM, it falls within a versatile light-to-midweight range. The fabric has enough body for shirts, dresses, trousers, overshirts, and soft tailoring while retaining a comfortable, relaxed drape.
Its subtly lustrous surface feels refined rather than glossy. Natural hemp slubs remain faintly visible beneath the smooth sateen face, giving the cloth an elevated yet organic character.

Both shades are naturally dyed. Slight differences in depth, tone, and dye distribution may occur between batches and throughout the fabric. These variations are part of the natural dyeing process and are not considered defects.

NATURAL DYE CHARACTERISTICS
Naturally dyed fabrics have a softer, more nuanced colour character than conventionally dyed textiles.
Subtle tonal movement, slight unevenness, small dye marks, and variations between batches may occur. The colour may also soften gradually with washing, wear, and exposure to light, developing a distinctive patina over time.
Please purchase sufficient fabric for your complete project in one order, as exact colour matching between separate dye batches cannot be guaranteed.
WASH AND CARE
• Hand wash separately in cold water
• Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent
• Wash separately for the first several washes
• Do not soak for prolonged periods
• Do not bleach
• Avoid stain removers and harsh fabric softeners
• Do not scrub, wring, or twist
• Gently press out excess water
• Line dry in the shade
• Avoid direct sunlight while drying
• Do not tumble dry
• Steam or iron from the reverse side on medium heat
• Use a pressing cloth
• Store away from prolonged direct sunlight
Some colour release during the first few washes is normal for naturally dyed textiles. Always test the washing method on a small swatch before washing the complete fabric.
