    Description

    1. Fabric Overview

A distinctive indigo handwoven Kasuri cloth that captures the spirit and visual strength of denim without using a conventional denim twill construction.

At 300 GSM, this is a substantial mid-to-upper-midweight fabric—durable, garment-ready, and structured without feeling rigid or board-like.

The Kasuri, or ikat-like, effect creates softly blurred, painterly indigo patterns within the yarn arrangement rather than printing them onto the surface.

This gives the fabric depth, movement, and rare artisanal character. It is a slow-made, provenance-rich textile rooted in handcraft rather than industrial repetition.

    2. How It’s Made

This fabric is handwoven on traditional looms using indigo-dyed yarns arranged to create a Kasuri effect within the woven construction.

The pattern is created through the placement of the yarns and is not surface-printed.

Instead of a conventional denim twill, the ground is woven in a stable, balanced non-twill structure. This gives the fabric a cleaner face and more even surface than classic denim.

The cloth receives a light, natural finish that preserves breathability, fibre integrity, and the authentic hand of a handloom textile while allowing the indigo to age gracefully.

    4. Handfeel and Drape

The fabric has a dry, substantial hand with visible yarn character and a distinctly handwoven texture.

The cloth will soften with wear and washing while retaining its integrity, surface character, and pattern definition.

    Indigo Disclaimer

Mild crocking, bleeding, or colour transfer may occur initially, particularly through rubbing or contact with moisture.

Expect graceful, gradual fading with wear and washing. This evolution is an inherent characteristic of indigo-dyed textiles and should not be considered a defect.

Always test and measure a small swatch before cutting the complete yardage.
