ABOUT THE INDIGO VARIATIONS

In the Indigo shades, both the ground fabric and raised dobby motifs are indigo dyed. The colour is integrated into the yarns and cloth rather than printed onto the finished surface.

The raised dots catch more light, while the recessed ground appears deeper and shadowed. This interaction creates a two-level indigo effect with subtle tonal movement.

Indigo naturally changes with washing, friction, light exposure, and use. Raised areas may soften and fade more quickly than recessed sections, allowing the textured surface to develop a distinctive patina over time.

Please note that the White and Terracotta options are colour variations of the same woven fabric and should not be described as indigo dyed.

SEWING RECOMMENDATIONS

• Pre-wash or pre-treat a measured swatch before cutting

• Allow the fabric to rest flat before positioning pattern pieces

• Examine the direction and placement of the dobby motifs

• Keep all pieces oriented consistently

• Cut in a single layer when exact motif placement is important

• Use sharp dressmaking shears or a rotary cutter

• Use a universal or denim needle suitable for substantial cotton

• Test a size 90/14 or 100/16 needle

• Use strong, high-quality thread

• Select a medium-to-long stitch length after testing

• Stay-stitch curved and bias-cut edges

• Secure motif yarns where cutting passes through raised dots

WASH AND CARE — ALL COLOURS

• Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent

• Do not bleach

• Avoid harsh stain removers and fabric softeners

• Do not soak for prolonged periods

• Avoid scrubbing, wringing, or twisting

• Gently press out excess water

• Line dry in the shade

• Avoid tumble drying to minimise shrinkage

• Reshape while damp

• Iron from the reverse side

• Use a pressing cloth

• Avoid heavy pressure directly over the raised dots

The organic cotton may soften and relax after washing while retaining its distinctive dobby texture.

ADDITIONAL INDIGO CARE

The three Indigo shades require additional care:

• Always wash separately

• Some colour release during the first washes is expected

• Colour may transfer through rubbing, particularly when new

• Avoid contact with pale clothing, leather, and light upholstery

• Keep washing cycles short

• Do not use whitening products or stain removers

• Dry away from direct sunlight

• Expect gradual fading and patina with wear

Indigo transfer and fading are characteristic behaviours of the dye and should not be considered defects.

COLOUR CHARACTERISTICS

White offers a clean, tonal surface where light and shadow define the raised dots.

Terracotta brings warmth and earthy depth to the textured weave. The colour may appear lighter across the raised motifs and deeper in the recessed ground.

The three Indigo options offer increasing depth of blue. Variations in dye absorption and surface relief may create subtle tonal movement throughout the fabric.
