Description
## Fabric Overview
This beautiful handwoven Dupion silk is made from pure mulberry silk yarns and woven to create the characteristic slubbed texture and subtle cross-grain appearance associated with traditional Dupion.
The yarns retain their natural character, preserving the silk’s crisp body, organic grain, and softly matte lustre. Gentle irregularities across the surface give the fabric its distinctive artisanal appearance and ensure that every length feels individual.
At 210 GSM, this is a versatile medium-weight silk—crisp enough to hold pleats and structured silhouettes while retaining the graceful movement expected from natural silk.
## How the Fabric Is Made
Dupion silk is traditionally produced using irregular silk filaments, often associated with double cocoons in which two silkworms have spun closely together. When reeled and woven, these filaments create the characteristic slubs, thick-and-thin yarn variations, and crosswise texture visible across the cloth.
The fabric is woven by hand, allowing the natural variations within the yarn to remain visible rather than creating a completely uniform, machine-finished surface.
These slubs and irregularities are defining features of authentic Dupion silk and are not surface-applied.

## Wash and Care
Professional dry cleaning is recommended for the best longevity.
Do not machine wash, soak, bleach, wring, or tumble dry. Steam gently or iron on low heat from the reverse side using a protective pressing cloth.
Avoid spraying water directly onto the fabric, as droplets may leave marks on natural silk. Always test a small swatch before washing, pressing, or applying embroidery treatments.
## Handwoven Silk Disclaimer
Slubs, thick-and-thin yarns, minor weave irregularities, and gentle variations in texture and sheen are inherent characteristics of handwoven Dupion silk.
These details form part of the fabric’s natural, artisanal beauty and should not be considered defects.
