Self-Checkered Hemp Fabric, 58" Wide, 150 GSM
$13.00Excl. VAT
Description
A refined self-checkered hemp fabric with a quiet, architectural texture that feels natural, contemporary, and deeply grounded.
The woven check is subtle rather than graphic, adding visual depth and tactile interest without overwhelming the fabric’s clean, understated character. At approximately 150 GSM, it offers enough body for softly tailored pieces while remaining supple, breathable, and comfortable for fluid garments.
Artisanal and materially considered, this is a versatile textile for slow-fashion designs that value natural texture, longevity, and understated detail.
### How It’s Made
This fabric is woven from pure hemp yarn using a carefully calibrated construction in which alternating yarn densities create the self-checkered pattern directly within the cloth.
The checks are woven rather than printed, embossed, or applied as a surface treatment. This gives the pattern a soft, integrated appearance and ensures that the texture remains part of the fabric throughout its life.
Hemp fibres are naturally strong and durable. With washing and wear, the fabric will gradually become softer and more relaxed while retaining its characteristic structure.

### Wash & Care
Pre-washing is recommended before cutting, as natural hemp may shrink during its first wash.
Hand wash or machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle using a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Wash with similar colours and avoid bleach or harsh fabric softeners.
Line dry naturally in the shade or tumble dry on a low-temperature setting. Avoid high heat, which may cause excessive shrinkage or affect the surface texture.
Steam or iron while slightly damp using a medium-to-high setting. Test the temperature on a small area first.
The fabric will gradually soften and develop a gentle patina with washing and wear. Slight variations in yarn thickness, texture, weave, and tone are natural characteristics of hemp and should not be considered defects.
